We are a small local charity that provides supported accommodation for 26 residents at two hostels (Bosco House and Bosco Lodge), a number of flats to promote independent living in the local community, and a sit-up service for ten rough sleepers every night of the year.
Many of our residents have experienced substance misuse problems, social isolation and stigma, physical and mental health issues, and often have an offending background. We provide a warm, comfortable environment where everyone can feel safe, welcome and included, irrespective of race, religion, culture, gender or sexuality.
Our aim is to facilitate and support positive lifestyle changes with our clients. Whenever possible, we take rough sleepers who come through the sit-up service into one of the houses. Residents of the houses may then move into one of the flats when they feel they are ready. This process is to assist our clients towards sustainable independent living.
Clients are encouraged to take control of their lives by using existing strengths and developing new skills to increase independence. Clients are also encouraged to exercise their rights and fulfill their responsibilities as a member of the community.
We offer educational opportunities and meaningful activities in the workshops on site in the Futures Suite to enable clients to work with the wider community to become involved in learning new skills and developing existing strengths. We also work in partnership with a number of agencies to provide a range of resources that will help address the individual support needs of each client.
In 2015 we went through significant change: we established a consortium with three other housing providers to form Sefton Supported Housing Group (SSHG); as part of this consortium we won a five-year contract to provide supported housing from Sefton Council; we took on another hostel and doubled both our capacity and workforce; and we now provide a sit-up service for rough sleepers every night of the year. These changes are reflected here in our new, expanded website.
